I'm assuming that's a laser. If so, from what I've understood after countless of games that involve light cutting through crap, it doesn't spread a whole lot. A bit more lens flare on the beam origin would have been good too.
Right leg looks odd.
Shading seems to ignore that there's a light source coming from the finger. *Points toward the hair at the back of her neck*
Answering in the respective order, Her danmaku bullets (the projectile she fires) in-game are really huge bullets covered in weak light; not lasers.
How so? Too thin?
Huh, quite true, but see, I only focused the light near where that red flash in the background was. Didn't want it too strong because, again it's not a laser per se.
Leg should be a noticeable deal smaller considering it's farther away from the viewer. Even if her torso was twisted in such a way that the legs were even-ish, I don't think it would look like that, especially with the leg raised.
When you consider the recoil of a projectile too, she'd be pushed backward, so the legs would be spreading open to sustain the kickback.
Basic proportions: Shoulder-to-elbow length = thigh length and knee-to-ankle length.
As for recoil, though true, I suggest you look at Touhou 10.5 or 12.3 gameplay first. Being realistic is not necessarily a good thing in fan art. Sometimes, what is considered real is what is canonically true.

Thanks for the critique, though.
